Biography

South Florida Ballet’s Artistic Director, Jennifer Sedler-Rose began taking ballet instruction
at the very young age of six. By age twelve, she began her serious training, studying
with some of Miami’s most respected teachers in classical ballet technique, Martha Mahr,
Magda Aunon, Judith Newman, and Magdalena Maury. Jennifer’s dedication was
rewarded by being accepted to study with some of the nation’s top companies’
professional programs such as San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet,
and the Milwaukee Ballet.

Her extensive education exposed her to the best elements of Cecchetti,
Royal Academy of Dance, and Vaganova School of Thought.
She had the opportunity to dance with Miami Dance Theater,
Ballet Theater of Miami, and Ballet Etudes,
performing in such classics as Swan Lake, Nutcracker,
Paquita, Sleeping Beauty, as well as many contemporary ballets.
Jennifer went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from
New World School of the Arts, College Division. Upon completion of her Bachelor in Fine Arts, Jennifer accepted an invitation to dance with the Orlando Ballet, formerly known as Southern Ballet Theatre. Her passion and dedication to the dance art form sparked her creativity and talent in choreography. Her first ballet, Liasons, was chosen to debut at The Vizcayans Annual Ball at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in 1993.

In 1997, South Florida Ballet opened its doors under Jennifer’s artistic direction, where she continues to choreograph and teach her students the vast knowledge she has acquired through the many years of training and performance. Jennifer knows the importance of continuing her dance education, sharpening her knowledge by attending Houston Ballet Select Teachers Seminars and The Harid Conservatory Workshops, as well as other teacher seminars. Jennifer’s accomplishments continue to enumerate as many of her students have been awarded scholarships and acceptances to study at prestigious ballet schools in North America such as American Ballet Theatre, School of American Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Pennsylvania Ballet (The Rock School), Houston Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Montgomery Ballet, Gelsey Kirkland Academy, The Harid Conservatory, and San Francisco Ballet. Her students have also been the recipients of many prominent awards in dance competitions, to include The New York City Dance Alliance’s Critic’s Choice Award, the highest award in that competition for their performance of Swan Lake. Her personal life is also accomplished and blessed through her beautiful family and children, Amanda, Amelia, and Tyler.
